Why Level as Protection

Protection trades a little kill speed for fights you can walk away from, which matters more while questing alone than it does in a prepared group.

• Fewer Deaths While Questing Defensive talents widen the margin for mistakes when a pull goes wrong or an extra patrol joins in.
• Less Downtime Between Fights Survivability talents reduce the time spent recovering, so more of a session goes into actual progress.
• A Direct Route Into Dungeons Points spent levelling stay useful for tanking, so the setup carries over instead of being replaced.

Leveling Path

This is a suggested order of emphasis, not a fixed schedule. Talent availability and your own questing pace decide the exact points.

• Early Levels Start with the defensive and durability talents that make ordinary questing fights forgiving, so a bad pull is survivable rather than fatal.
• Mid Levels Move into the core Protection talents that carry the build into group content, and keep an eye on prerequisites before planning deeper nodes.
• Transition to Dungeons Once the tanking core is in place, compare against the dedicated dungeon tank setup and adjust the supporting points for group play.
